A recap of Amazon Prime’s Made in Heaven before Season 2 is released
Made in Heaven Review: One of the best shows of 2019 on the OTT platform was Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s ‘Made in Heaven’. In a world of OTT platforms such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Zee5, Hulu, and many more, the churning of new shows is nothing extraordinary.
However, the release of a show that has two friends as its protagonist is something to behold- that too, two friends with different lifestyles, sexualities, and gender, however that is not all that is there to this show- to be honest, this online series is more of a behind-the-scenes look into the dark and edgy world of our society’s crème de la crème.

Made in Heaven Season 1 Review
Tara Khanna, played by the talented and beautiful Shobhita Dhulipala and Karan Mehra, played by Arjun Mathur (who later went on to get nominated for the prestigious Emmy Awards in the Best Actor category), are two wedding planners of Delhi, who work as a team and deliver the best experience to their clients.
Each episode focuses on a new wedding with a whole new cast, most of them being actors we’ve loved seeing in other projects. However, along with every episode, the life of Tara and Karan is unraveled meticulously- we learn their past and present, their desires and emotions, their strongest and weakest points, we watch them grow through their hardest moments and flourish in their moment of glory, in a way we live their lives with them – to a point where we connect with them.
Maybe, that is why, when Karan was sexually assaulted in the police station, we had tears in our eyes. Maybe, that is why, when Tara, felt alone, after coming to terms with her husband’s extramarital affair, we felt the despondency racking her limbs in our hearts.
In terms of direction and cinematography, the show exceeds expectations- it is evident that close attention has been paid to all details- Nitya Mehra, Zoya Akhtar, Prashant Nair, and Alankrita Shrivastava have outdone themselves in this season.
As it is a show that narrates the stories of people and love and betrayal through multiple marriage ceremonies, it is safe to say that costume and makeup along with set designs play a huge role in ‘Made in Heaven’ and the entire team deserves to be congratulated for their work. Produced by Tiger Baby Films and Excel Entertainment, this show has set a benchmark for all upcoming shows on various OTT platforms.
The contrasting viewpoints of various Indians on several important as well as critical issues that we witness as a whole in society but choose not to talk about have been highlighted through the gripping storyline presented before us. Patriarchy, homophobia, lack of self-awareness and self-actualization, and hatred towards other communities have been key points in the web series.
Moreover, topics such as the modern-day dowry system and the fake sense of security in marrying a man that women are pushed to chase after when they’re of marriageable age are brought to light.
The hypocrisy of the justice system- the abuse faced by the LGBTQ+ community amongst their people is astounding and horrifying, but also very realistic. A very naked picture of the Indian society in this decade is painted before us, the audience, to get a sense of what we are turning into- intolerable, disagreeing, headstrong individuals with no sense of empathy and understanding.
In conclusion, we can state that the show has paved its way to success with a strong plot and characters and should be a must-watch for all film and content lovers, who want to indulge themselves in the world of finery, and beauty.

The second season of ‘made in heaven’ was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, however, the cast has been hinting that they have been shooting this year and the show will be released in a few months, for another trip into the world of Tara and Karan’s friendship, struggles and passions.
This show focuses on a certain part of the Indian society- the upper class rich- people who, some may argue, use an extravagant show of money on significant events such as their children’s weddings to disguise their wounded relationships and broken families.
So, this was Made in Heaven season 1 review. We know that you are eagerly waiting for season 2, we will soon come up with season 2 review when it releases. Till then, you can check more such interesting webseries and movie reviews on BuzzArenas.
